AT&T Offers $250K Reward for Arrest of Fiber Optic Cable Vandals

Vandals have allegedly cut buried fiber optic lines in Livermore, Berkeley, Fremont, Walnut Creek and San Jose.

By Autumn Johnson, Patch National Staff
AT&T is offering a $250,000 reward for the capture and conviction of vandals who have been cutting buried fiber optic lines in the Bay Area, disrupting phone, television and Internet service for numerous residents. The most recent outage happened at about 10:30 p.m. Monday night when fiber optic lines were cut in two manholes on Altamont Pass Road near Livermore, AT&T and Alameda County officials said.
Altamont Pass was closed at Carroll Road and at Greenville Road while crews made emergency repair work on the lines. AT&T spokesman Matthew Cross said repairs were completed by 7 p.m. Tuesday. Monday's was the latest in an inexplicable rash of vandalism in the area. Cross said that while there is resale value in stealing buried copper lines, there is no profit in cutting fiber optic lines.
"That's just pure vandalism," he said. Furthermore, the buried cables are difficult to access and require a significant effort to cut. AT&T has not had similar ongoing problems with vandalism in other regions of the country, Cross said. The FBI has taken an interest in the case, asking for help in June with 10 incidents over the prior year in the East and South Bay.

Lafayette City Council what about the Attempted Murder July 20, 2011

It was a big night for Lafayette police at a recent Lafayette City Council meeting. Two officers were recognized for their fine service, the chief gave his annual report on crime and a presentation was made about surveillance cameras.

Police Chief Eric Christensen called Brad Imhoff an "inspiration" and a "role model" for other officers in the department - he also made the most arrests, all of which contributed to Imhoff earning the coveted "Lafayette Officer of the Year" award. Also recognized was Jacqui Dennison, who was named Contra Costa County's Officer of the Month, singling her out among Contra Costa County's roughly 400 deputies for her work as a detective sleuthing out auto burglars. Lafayette contracts with the county sheriff's office for police services.
Calling Lafayette "a safe place to be at three in the morning," Christensen outlined all of the various crimes against people and property within the city limits. Crimes to people are obviously a top priority, with a total of 18 incidents for 2013, which the chief pointed out as fairly low compared to other municipalities of the same size, although "one is too many."
The six assaults with deadly weapons crimes last year were all solved; typically the perpetrator is not a stranger, but a neighbor, acquaintance or family member, according to police data. There was only one rape and one sexual battery for the year.
The number of stolen vehicles went up last year to 37, mostly older style cars which were pilfered in the downtown area; there has also been a slight increase in auto burglaries.
Out of more than 3,000 traffic stops, 1,400 citations were issued. In addition, the most common traffic collision in town is car versus tree.
The chief explained they focused on reducing the number of residential burglaries last year, which decreased to a total of 61 with jewelry being hands down the most popular item for thieves. While the number of residential burglaries has dropped, many residents are making it easy for thieves - half of the homes burgled had no locked windows or doors.
In related news, the possibility of obtaining images of thieves in get-away cars was studied by the Crime Prevention Commission to improve the safety and security of the community. The city council asked the commission to examine costs and potential effectiveness of various kinds of surveillance mechanisms. Commission chair Cameron Burks described the three types available: Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) which can be monitored or unmonitored, automated license plate reading cameras (ALPR), and motion-activated still cameras. After doing extensive research, the commission found two of the three options were prohibitively expensive, at approximately $600,000 for CCTV and $700,000 for ALPR, and came with the significant downside of having police sort through a substantial amount of data.
Many neighbourhoods already use motion-activated still cameras that have been very effective, with the cost shared among residents. While carefully not mentioning the neighbourhoods that use them, Burke suggested building on the current still camera system seemed like the most efficient option. The commission supports the use of these cameras - which are, at $700 each, a bargain compared to the alternatives.
Councilmember Mike Andersen agreed. "It's clear that it's economical and there are quite a few cameras out there already." He suggested looking for a way to identify gaps in existing camera coverage, and hinted that there may be potential for the city to subsidize some or all of the cost of expanding camera coverage. Looking for further clarification, the city council asked the commission to come back in six months with more detail.

Treasured Public Servant Killed In Lafayette Crash

Treasured Public Servant Killed In Lafayette Crash

He worked as a public information officer for another city here in the East Bay.

By Bea Karnes, Patch Staff  | Updated

LAMORINDA, CA — A bicyclist who was killed Thursday in a collision with a big rig truck in Lamorinda has been identified as 54-year-old Martin Nelis of Pleasant Hill. Nelis died at about 12:30 p.m. in the hit-and-run accident on Reliez Valley Road between Gloria Terrace and Withers Avenue in Lafayette.
Nelis had worked as the public information officer for the city of Pleasant Hill since 2007. He played a leading role in organizing several community events, according to a city statement on his death, including the
summer concert series, Community Service Day, Off the Grid food truck events and programs with the library and local schools.
"Martin was often the first to volunteer for any civic event or meeting, and the last to leave and turn off the lights," the city statement said.
"This is a huge loss for the city," said Mayor Tim Flaherty. "Martin was the quintessential dedicated public servant, and a wonderful member of the community."
Police have interviewed the driver and impounded the truck. They continue to investigate the fatal collision.

"Our thoughts are with Mr. Nelis' family and the staff and citizens of the city of Pleasant Hill," Lafayette Mayor Don Tatzin said in a statement.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information that would help the investigation is asked to call the Lafayette Police Department at 925-283-3680.

City Manager Steven Falk picks the city's replacement for outgoing police chief Mike Hubbard. By J.D. O'Connor, Patch Staff | Mar 16, 2012 4:23 am ET | Updated Mar 16, 2012 4:25 am ET

Lafayette City Manager Steven Falk Thursday announced that Contra Costa County Sheriff's Lieutenant Eric Christensen will replace retiring chief Mike Hubbard, who leaves at the end of this month.

In his announcement, Falk made note of Christensen's qualifications, which include the fact that he:

Holds a BS in Criminal Justice Administration from Cal State Hayward

Spent three years in the U.S. Army, and six in the Army Reserve

Joined the Contra Costa Sheriff's Office in 1991, and has twenty years of local law enforcement experience including:

  • Patrol deputy and detective for the San Ramon Police Department
  • Supervising sergeant for the Oakley Police Department
  • Managed the Sheriff's Department Emergency Services Support Unit for three years
  • Served at the rank of Lieutenant for five years.

During his career, Lt. Christensen has won several Sheriff's Office awards, including the:

Custody Services Officer of the Year (1997)

Patrol Division Deputy of the Year (1999)

"With his extensive background in local law enforcement in suburban communities, Lt. Christensen is well-qualified to serve Lafayette," Falk wrote. "Given our potential for catastrophic wildland fires, mudslides, earthquakes, and
flooding, Christensen's experience in the Emergency Services Support Unit should be valuable to the community."

Lt. Christensen will succeed Lt. Michael Hubbard, effective March 29.

The Witness Club - The Russia

One of the reasons that each of these persons are witnesses is that Batum trencher was a World Poker Tour player who happened to be coincidentally indicted with the Russians in the Trump Tower Scandal connected to the banks that we're moving money between the United States and Russia.

Don't blame puking for everything Russian or Ukrainian, as the Russian mafia is a strong motivating criminal linked to aspects of the Paul manafort case who operated out of Ukraine, the dirt is everywhere, the conspiracy is and, is transnational.

It's been 17 years since 911, a long American journey that the narrative postulated in front of us for decades is a fairy tale.

If you look at it from the economics, the losses in building 7 to the SEC investigations is tantamount to argue that somebody needs to get rid of documents.

One of the key parts of the fall of Enron is a little-known link to Bennett versus Southern Pacific a lawsuit this blogger lost when his is a little-known link to a 1989 murder covered up by the former district attorney of Contra Costa County pled guilty to a perjury charge casting discredit upon the agency, my arguments of conspiracy long-standing and my long-held suspicion that they were able to do something in 1989 that derailed my case.

this is the county of cold cases unsolved for decades we're families have been burned alive 2 cover up something to intimidate somebody elset to grow Contra Costa County into the trillion-dollar entity is today.

Police officers city attorney's residence constituents children if you get in their way they kill you.

for those of you know something it's time to come forward otherwise you probably get entitled along with the rest of them.

The Florida Connection

My Florida experience in the 70s with unknown CIA connections and also connections to the Medellin cartel who were operating in Southwest Florida using clandestine CIA strips most notably on Chiquita Parkway much of that documented in a Washington Post article with Revelations that CIA was in control of Punta Gorda, Fort Myers, Sanibel, and Cape Coral.

The Murders of Friends

When all this was underfoot our rag tag party powered group of friends would use Chiquita Parkway for our local drag strip.  But at night it was well known that planes laden with drugs from South America used that same parkway at night.

There is a George Bush connection from a long-forgotten fight in a bar with a bunch of locals that could not stand the Pensacola Flyboys and now knowing the connections between Chiquita Boulevard useppa Island and the bush Dynasty why not consider George Bush's why not .

His mom attended to Rye Country Day School, as did my mom and our grandparents amazingly were friends.

It's comforting to know that the former president might be connected to a murder conspiracy connected to Richard Morgan his buddy, connected to his father that has been consistently name as a co-conspirator in the Kennedy assassination,.

Another one of my grandfather's clients was the Kennedys who retained Patterson Teele and Dennis located at 120 Broadway New York New York, they building on by Larry Silverstein today a you know that guy that said pull it on Building 7.

Pretty soon I'm going to end up in New York with my camera in front of BlackRock, Silverstein's office and a few other places, I think it's time for me to expose the truth to expose the fact s.

My local law enforcement Representatives coming to Flavors flavor one is the corruption flavor to is the investigators looking at the corruption.

The key link is former Commander George Driscoll who is a resident of Contra Costa County, former employee of Contra Costa district attorney Mark Peterson, and brother to Alicia Driscoll and Uncle to Geneva.

Until I came along nobody knew that the driscolls were connected to the 2004 explosion that killed the welders in Walnut Creek which is connected to Richard Morgan which is connected to Commander and Cheif as in former President George Bush

Can you imagine the complexities of this conspiracy, then explosion in Walnut Creek California, explosion San Bruno California and a virus connected to AT&T formerly SBC services the backbone of the American telecommunication systems about to merge with Time Warner and CNN.

Your CNN merges with AT&T bill never run this story because it incriminates AT &T

I'd rather sleep in a bed of rattlesnakes over dinner with these people who I suspect has the blood of Millions on their hands.

Stop demanding oil, use less let the world live longer.

For today's commentary.

MAPS: Locations of Attacks on Pete Bennett

Contra Costa Incident Map (in-production)

Mr. Pete Bennett began following incidents in Contra Costa County in 1978 after first arriving in Walnut Creek CA. Over time Bennett realized something was amiss but lacked resources, time and expertise but most important was there was no internet in 1978.

When Bennett came forward in the murder investigation of Officer Lester Garnier he accidentally collided with several conspiracies leading into the City of Walnut Creek, City of Concord, City of Pittsburg and a long list incidents.  A short list is arson, bombings, explosions, and dead suspects.

The personal starting point is Fall 1978 just after The Jonestown Massacre and a Federal Case involving the early career of US Attorney Robert Muller.
